When it comes to digital marketing, it’s important to remember that in order to maintain success, you must be in it for the long haul. Nothing comes too quickly in this field, and for sure nothing stays relevant for long. To keep a steady pace and maintain digital success, follow our helpful guidelines below.

 

Accuracy Over Speed

It’s great to be the first one to post a new blog, or the first to market a product in a new way. However, it’s far better to be lasting and accurate than it is to be the first and speedy. People won’t always remember what you do right, but they’ll remember what you do wrong. Take your time, especially when starting new projects. While initial attention may come to those with an innovating, new strategy, consistency is what will keep your business going.

Also, do your best to remember that strong methods NEED  time and plenty of monitoring.

For example, advertising or marketing through Facebook and/or Google needs to be analyzed on a regular basis in order to make the proper changes in order to stand out and bring in results. If you’re always looking for the next quick fix, you could be neglecting your already strong strategies.

 

Trends Come and Go

Think about what was popular five years ago. Now, think about what is popular today. It’s likely that things have changed quite a bit.

In addition to maintaining accuracy over speed, you should also understand that trends come and go. Jumping on every bandwagon is simply unnecessary.

Yes, it’s important to keep up to date in the digital marketing in order to stay relevant, and we’re not telling you not to experiment! However, with any trend, it’s important to understand what works for your business and what doesn’t. For instance, if your company targets those 55 and up, utilizing TikTok, may not be your best move! Yet, if you’re targeting those 30 and under, this may be just the way to go. Know your audience as this will help you determine what is worth the extra effort.

 

Make Sure Both You and Your Client are Patient

Now more than ever before, people want immediate results. However, we wouldn’t be writing this article if that were always possible.

Faster isn’t always better, and it’s important for you and your client to understand that concept. You may need to practice some A/B testing in order to figure out what works and what doesn’t. Don’t discount something if it isn’t producing results right way. In fact, finding out what doesn’t work can often be just as helpful as finding out what does. Certain advertising features having learning phases, and until those are complete, your results remain somewhat unknown. Give your work the appropriate time! Monitor and change this as needed before giving up entirely.

We advise explaining this to your client as well, as it can be a hard concept to grasp without knowing the back end of digital marketing strategies.

 

Focus on the End Goal

Lastly, it can be easy to get caught up in the “thick of it” when things aren’t panning out as planned. Do your best to keep your eye on the prize. Keep a record of what your business goal is in one year, five years, ten years, and so on and so forth. It should do some good to remember that with each trial and error, you get closer and closer to those long term goals. Emphasis on the phrase long term!
